Aviodrome and Food Bank join hands during SintAIRklaas

One hundred children from families who are struggling financially can participate for free in SintAIRklaas, the aviation museum's Saint Nicholas event, at this year's Aviodrome Aviation Museum. Aviodrome has teamed up with Voedselbank Lelystad for this.

General manager of Aviodrome Coen Hoozemans: "Saint Nicholas will soon be in the country again! For many children it means being spoiled with nice gifts and delicious candy. Unfortunately, this is not something everyone can take for granted. That's why we approached Voedselbank Lelystad to see if we could do something for these children. And we could! We are very happy to be able to give these children a festive time at Aviodrome."

Soon, craft coloring sheets will be handed out at Voedselbank Lelystad that children can craft into a shoe. Upon showing the craft, the children will receive free admission to Aviodrome during the first weekend. They may also bring one person with them. The crafted shoe is placed at the beginning of the visit to Aviodrome. Hoozemans: "And they get the shoe filled back home!"

Secretary of Voedselbank Lelystad Kees van den Haspel: "The holidays are upon us again and that can be confronting for families in need of food assistance. We are very happy that Aviodrome thinks of this group of people and makes it possible for them to participate!"

SaintAirways
As in previous years, Aviodrome is the home of SintAirways, St. Nicholas' pack plane. Various activities are organized in the Schiphol building. Here the children learn what is involved in wrapping, planning and distributing presents. The children get to sort and check presents, fill the plane with peppercorn oil, hand in their wish list and throw the presents down the chimney. To thank them for their help, they receive a Pietlot diploma.

On the weekends of November 18 & 19, November 25 & 26 and December 2 & 3, SintAIRklaas will be at Aviodrome Aviation Museum. Admission is included with an entrance ticket. Due to capacity, it is important to reserve a time slot.
