The 'Grande Dame' of Dutch Aviation
The aircraft had long been high on Aviodrome Lelystad Airport's wish list. The restoration project took place partly in the Arizona desert and partly in the Netherlands, where the Lockheed was given a new "jacket.
Life story of the Lockheed Constellation
KLM's Lockheed L-749 Constellation is on display in the indoor exhibition at Aviodrome. The Constellation flew for the United States Air Force until 1967. After that the Connie served as a crop protection spray aircraft. In 1993 the aircraft was taken over by the Stichting Constellation Nederland, after which Aviodrome acquired the aircraft in 2001. Here the aircraft was restored and then festively added to the Aviodrome collection.
