Tragic accident with the, for Aviodrome destined, Convair 340

On July 10, a tragic accident occurred with the Convair 340 destined for Aviodrome. The aircraft crashed in South Africa during its test flight.

This summer, Aviodrome would host a special aircraft. From South Africa, the iconic Convair 340 was to fly to Aviodrome. Yesterday, Aviodrome received the tragic news that while taking off in a test flight in South Africa, the aircraft crashed.

The priority now is to get information on all those involved in this tragic accident. Authorities in South Africa are investigating this accident. Serena van Kammen, general manager of Aviodrome, is leaving for Pretoria, South Africa, this morning on behalf of the management to assist those involved.

Update July 11 - 1 p.m.

It has now been confirmed that one of the 19 occupants of the Convair 340 died after the plane crashed. This is one of the South African technicians. Currently, several occupants of the aircraft are still in the hospital. Two of them are in critical condition. The three Aviodrome technicians have since been released from the hospital. The South African Civil Aviation Authority is currently investigating the cause of the tragic Convair 340 accident.

Update July 11 - 3:45 p.m.

It has just been confirmed that a second person has died in this accident. This is one of the factory employees from the building the Convair 340 crashed into.
