Aviodrome Aviation Museum ready for reopening in anniversary year

The doors of Aviodrome Aviation Museum are opening again. Saturday, June 5, the museum in Lelystad, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, may welcome people again.

"This year we are celebrating our anniversary and it is incredibly nice to be able to do so with visitors. We will reflect extensively on this special milestone this summer," said Serena van Kammen, general manager of Aviodrome.

Renewed helicopter exhibitionVisitors can also come and admire the refurbished helicopter exhibition starting Saturday. The helicopters and gyrocopter can be admired up close in the refurbished exhibit. "In addition, we have also placed interactive parts at the exhibition. Here, visitors can learn how to fly a helicopter and perform their own rescues," Van Kammen says.

A large video wall 6.5 meters wide and three meters high has also been installed. Van Kammen: "It is impressive footage of helicopters in Dutch defense and of the construction of the Netherlands' first helicopter. An animation also explains how a helicopter flies. A nice addition to our museum."

Safe to visitSeveral measures regarding the coronavirus are currently in place at Aviodrome. For example, there is a maximum number of visitors per day, visitors must book their tickets online prior to their visit and a fixed walking route is in place. "Last year we showed that Aviodrome is safe to visit and we can't wait to welcome visitors again," Van Kammen said.
