New exhibit: 100 years of Schiphol at Aviodrome

Schiphol Airport is celebrating its 100th anniversary this month. Of course, this cannot go unnoticed at an Aviation Theme Park. That is why Aviodrome is opening a new exhibition on September 20: 100 years of Schiphol. In this exhibition we look back on the past 100 years. What began as a small meadow with a shed is now a 'city of millions' with more than 60 million passengers a year.

Aviodrome has the perfect location for an exhibition about Schiphol Airport: the Schiphol 1928 building; a replica of the first station building from 1928. The check-in desk displays suitcases, containing objects that symbolize the various time periods. Those time periods include the start of civil aviation, reconstruction after World War II and the enormous growth of both the number of flights and Schiphol itself. The exhibition looks back over the past hundred years by visualizing the various time periods chronologically through striking photographs, short texts and projections, drawing comparisons between past and present.

The exhibition 100 Years of Schiphol can be seen from Sept. 20 through spring 2017 and is part of the total collection of Aviation Theme Park Aviodrome.
