Aviodrome is Flevoland's kid-friendly museum

Aviation theme park Aviodrome has been named Kidsproof Museum of the Province of Flevoland. In the national top-10, Aviodrome finished handsomely in shared third place with a rating of 8.7, just two-tenths points behind winner Verzetsmuseum Amsterdam.

All Kidsproof museums received their awards on Wednesday, May 27, during a festive event at Het Spoorwegmuseum in Utrecht. Jeugdjournaal presenter Milouska Meulens presented the awards together with the 10 best museum inspectors (all children of course).

Minimal difference

Aviodrome branch manager Albert Kraai was of course delighted with the award: "Best Kidsproof Museum of Flevoland and third in the national top 10. That is really super. And the difference with the number 1 is minimal, so there may be more in store next year. For our museum, this is the most important appreciation we can receive. That's because the award winners are determined by children themselves. So we are very happy to have these youthful museum inspectors. This award reinforces our belief that we are doing a good job of making Aviodrome even more kid-friendly and fun."

Child-friendliness

For Kraai and all the other Aviodrome staff, the happiness and pleasure that children experience during a day at Aviodrome is paramount: "And we continue to work on this child-friendliness. Visitors to our Aviation Theme Park will notice this again on Sunday, June 21, for example, during the special Father's Day Children's Flight Days/Children's Flying Days and the special event 'Model Construction in Action' on Saturday, June 20."

Child Pilot Training

In addition, children always have a great time at Aviodrome with the many old and new airplanes, on the many playground equipment (including a live baggage carousel), in the flight simulators, the radio room and so on. By successfully completing various tests, they can even get their Aviodrome Pilot's License. Those skills are tested during a flight test, signal test, knowledge test, eye test and also a steering test in pedal planes during the children's pilot training. Kraai comments, "That concept also turns out to be a hit. That we are now rewarded for it in this way makes us very happy and proud."
