Aviodrome participates in weekend of science

Aviation Theme Park Aviodrome participates in the first weekend of October in the largest national science and technology festival in the Netherlands: the 'Weekend van de Wetenschap'. Companies, institutions and museums will open their treasure troves of science and technology to the general public on October 3 and 4. And of course Aviodrome cannot be missing.

During the Weekend of Science, interested parties can visit more than 150 locations throughout the Netherlands for exclusive activities such as experiments, performances, lectures, open days and exhibitions.

Say science, you say space travel. And that's lucky, because the National Space Museum also has a place in Aviodrome. Both days special space tours with a scientific angle will take place. Here visitors learn all about the history, present and future of space travel. There is also a science workshop for children.

Aviation Technology

Science and technology also plays a very big role in aviation, of course. Visitors to Aviodrome are therefore challenged both days to participate in the Aviation Quiz. There are also guided tours on everything to do with aviation.

Heritage

On Saturday, Oct. 3, Aviodrome will also host the lecture "90 Years of Ellemeet Meteorites. Sebastiaan de Vet of the University of Amsterdam will then tell the story of August 28, 1925. Then, in the meadows around the Zeeland village of Serooskerke (Schouwen), two pieces of rock struck. The meteorites turned out to be from the asteroid 4 Vesta, causing an extraordinary piece of rock to end up in the Dutch natural history heritage.

Navigating by yourself

For children, Aviodrome has the special pilot and stewardess course. During this scavenger hunt, they must prove they have the skills of a real pilot or stewardess! Signal Morse code, fly a plane themselves and navigate like a real pilot. If they succeed in all of that, a license awaits as a reward!

Weekend of Science is an activity of the National Center for Science & Technology Foundation and is made possible with support from the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science.
