Flight simulators inside
Rise to great heights in the flight simulator! Take a seat, grab the controls and experience the thrill of flight. After seeing all those impressive flying machines on the ground, you are now just like a real pilot in the sky!
At Aviodrome Aviation Museum, you will find two static flight simulators inside. When you step inside, it is as if you have landed in the cockpit of the F104 Starfighter jet or the Boeing 737. These simulators have also previously been used to train pilots in training. But at Aviodrome, it's your turn!
Dry Sea Generic Simulator
The Dry Sea Generic Simulator was built in the late 1950s for KLM and served until 1972 to train DC-7 pilots. It carried the name "Dry Sea" here. This simulator was taken over by the NLR. Only the modified cockpit of this went into service in 1980 and was later rebuilt several times.
The "Dry Sea" simulator was used in research on human factors, new cockpit instruments and approach procedures. It was therefore also called the Research Flight Simulator (RFS).
*Please note that the simulator is suitable for people with a minimum height of 1.60 m.
The simulators are maintained and the flights supervised by volunteers. Unfortunately, it may occasionally happen that there are not enough skilled volunteers to keep the simulator functioning properly. As a result, the simulator may be closed unexpectedly. Of course, we make every effort to offer as many visitors as possible a flight in the "Dry Sea".
